Job Description Summary
Position Objective:
The Sr. Instructional Designer is responsible for providing guidance to the team and leads curriculum design and provides technical direction to Instructional Designers. This position evaluates training effectiveness and is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of training programs.
The Sr. Instructional Designer is a skilled and creative content creator, possessing a strong understanding of curriculum design and instructional practices. This role is involved in all phases of course development, including media production, and has overarching responsibility for ensuring both the integrity and excellence of the final course product. They are also responsible for overseeing the work of Subject Matter Experts, and providing mentoring, support, and guidance to team members.
Position Responsibilities:
- Leads curriculum design and provides technical direction to Instructional Designers.
- Provides guidance to the team and troubleshoots complex technical problems and curriculum design.
- Evaluates training effectiveness and provides feedback to team members.
- Assists in the overall coordination and implementation of training programs.
- Provides leadership and complex analysis to identify training deficiencies and designs comprehensive instructional roadmaps.
- Provides consultation to management regarding training and development or optional approaches to solving specific problems related to organizational productivity.
- Leads brainstorming sessions between end users, project team members, and other resources as needed to design, prototype, and review instructional content.
- Monitors industry trends and best practices for training delivery tools and platforms and recommends new approaches when appropriate.
- Uses storyboarding, outlines, and other media tools to produce a high-level design for course or learning series development that will enhance business capabilities.
- Assesses the learning needs of staff in support of organizational strategy and helps identify areas where increased end-user competence could improve performance; gathers information about the learners such as preferred learning environment and existing knowledge and skills.
- Previews and evaluates vendor instructional materials for purchase and use by the organization.
- Creates and manages work plans and project steps using established tools and procedures to meet committed time frames and project milestones; may utilize agile e-learning development (iterative design).
- Trains and mentors more junior instructional designers.
- Helps to develop standard processes across the course development team, as well as across departments.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Education, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of work experience as an instructional designer or similar role.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and instructional technology.
- Has a proven track record of creating complex coursework, media collateral, and interactive learning modules.
- Experience developing blended (both instructor-led and technology-based content) learning curriculum within learning management systems.
- Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Preference given to experience with graphic and media design software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere).
- Preference given to Vyond (Go Animate) and Storyline development experience.
- Master's degree preferred
Physical Demands:
Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind, or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. All duties must be performed according to Sunbelt's safety policies and guidelines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with ADA/ADAAA.

Base Pay Range: $73,040.00 - 100,430.00
