The Studio - Parakeet Pilates
Parakeet Pilates is a privately owned, creative fitness boutique in Historic Downtown Long Grove, IL. We are seeking Certified Pilates and/or Group Fitness Instructors to join our small, collaborative team. We offer private Pilates training, specialized equipment classes for 1-4 people, Pilates Mat, and non-Pilates group fitness classes (strength training, dance, etc) for groups of 6. We're hoping to round out our class schedule with some fun and non-traditional group fitness opportunities, so if you have a methodology you love to teach, let us know! Responsibilities Include
- Maintaining a supportive, friendly, and outgoing presence at the studio
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and co-workers
- Ability to work with clients of different ages and abilities
- Pre-programming Pilates classes and private sessions to meet the unique needs of each client
- Identifying contraindicated exercises for injuries and special populations
- The ability to modify exercises as needed for varying fitness levels, injuries, or special populations
- Ensuring arrival time allows for proper class setup, beginning class on time, ending on time, and resetting the studio to its original state after class has ended
- Maintaining a clean and orderly studio area
- Regular equipment safety checks and immediate reporting to management when repairs are needed
- Teaching classes as scheduled and notifying management in advance when conflicts arise for scheduled classes
- Some knowledge of Momence scheduling software for client check-in, retail purchases, and managing instructor availability (Parakeet will provide training)
- Ability to innovate, collaborate, and explore creative fitness ideas to foster engaging client experiences
- Teaching within the Scope of Practice
Requirements
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Nationally recognized certification in both or either
- Pilates Mat and/or Apparatus (for teaching Pilates classes)
- Group Fitness or Personal Training (for non-Pilates classes)
- Maintains industry certification in good standing and meets continuing education requirements
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience with managing online scheduling and retail software, or willingness to learn
- Ability to open and close the studio with confidence
- Minimum 1-year studio teaching experience preferred
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (Parakeet will provide)
