Job Title: Lung Transplant Program/Thoracic Surgeon

NYU Langone Health invites applications for a full-time Lung Transplant Program/Thoracic Surgeon to join the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at its Manhattan campus. The successful candidate will bring clinical excellence, academic engagement, and collaboration to NYU Langone’s expanding Lung Transplant Program and broader thoracic services.
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert surgical care for patients requiring complex thoracic interventions with a focus on those undergoing lung transplantation.
- Participate fully in the Lung Transplant Program, including donor selection, organ procurement, transplant surgery, and post-operative care.
- Maintain active clinical practice in thoracic surgery. Focus areas include thoracic oncology, esophageal disease, etc.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including transplant pulmonologists, cardiologists, intensivists, immunologists, oncologists, and advanced practice providers.
- Engage in the institutional transplant selection committee and support the development and implementation of protocols that comply with UNOS/OPTN guidelines.
- Advance minimally invasive and robotic surgical approaches where clinically appropriate.
- Participate in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, with opportunities for academic promotion.
- Contribute to clinical research in thoracic surgery, transplantation, or related fields, and participate in quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes.
- Represent NYU Langone Health at regional and national meetings and actively participate in relevant surgical, transplant, and academic societies.
Qualifications
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery or Thoracic Surgery.
- Completion of a fellowship in lung transplantation, thoracic surgery, or equivalent clinical experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in complex thoracic procedures (e.g., VATS, robotic-assisted surgery, open thoracic surgery).
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State.
- Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience, and academic contributions.
Salary
NYU Langone Health provides a salary range in compliance with New York State law on salary transparency. The annual base salary range for this role is $450,000-$650,000 or comparable to experience, clinical focus, and academic contributions. This range does not include incentive compensation, bonuses, or benefits.
