What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a Year-Round Business Graduate Intern to join our Protective Force (ProForce) team!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Collaborate with Protective Force Shift Captains to develop and refine performance metrics and training curriculum using Sandia AI programs, contributing to enhanced operational efficiency.
• Analyze data related to incidents, near misses, and underlying causes, leveraging Sandia AI programs to identify trends and support process improvement initiatives.
• Monitor and report on daily trends within the Protective Force, ensuring timely and accurate information is available for decision-making.
• Assist the Shift Captains in preparing and organizing reporting materials, facilitating with effective communication and operational oversight.
• Support the creation of metrics presentations for the Manager and Senior Manager of Protective Force, helping to convey insights and recommendations clearly and effectively.

Salary Range

At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

• Earned bachelor's degree
• Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited graduate program
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire

Educational Background & Career Interests:

• Degree in Social Science (Criminology, Sociology, National Security, or Global Security), Business, or a related field.
• A strong desire to contribute to Safeguards and Security initiatives within a National Laboratory environment.

Technical Skills and Proficiency:

• Proficiency with AI programs such as ChatGPT, ATLAS AI Assistant, CrewAI, Azure, and other related AI tools.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).

Cognitive Abilities:

• Strong strategic and tactical thinking skills.

Security Clearance:

• Ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

The Safeguards and Security Protective Force Department at Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico (SNL/NM) is responsible for the Protection of resources, including Special Nuclear Material (SNM), Classified Matter, personnel, locks, keys and combination control.The Protective Force department is also responsible for emergency response assistance and basic law enforcement activities at SNL/NM.

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
