Description
About M3 Design
M3 Design is a consultancy that brings world-class products to life for clients across healthcare, lifestyle, and industrial markets. Our multidisciplinary team blends engineering with industrial design and UI/UX to go far beyond basic engineering.
Why This Role Is Exciting
You’ll lead electrical designs while collaborating with creative, capable teammates who have deep engineering background and experience. We love brainstorming and problem-solving together to make each design high-performance and elegant. When there is tedious work, we pitch in and help each other knock it out.
We do medical devices, consumer products, and capital equipment. If you love the thrill of a project in a totally new industry, you will like working here.
We usually develop first-generation designs and hand off before sustaining phases.
What You’ll Do
Architect, design, and debug custom electrical hardware for client products—hands-on and by guiding contractors and ODMs/JDMs.
Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to shape compelling proposals.
Flex into other areas when your aptitudes and business needs align.
Who you are
Analytical, curious, creative, and driven. You want to understand the user, system, and client’s needs and business to develop the most effective design.
A strong collaborator who would rather develop relationships than fly solo. You work well with people at all levels, inside and outside of your company.
A researcher that studies available knowledge before launching your design.
You start with simple models and analysis and add complexity as needed. You decide when prototypes and test beds are needed and maximize their value/effort.
A fact-based, polished communicator.
Committed to implementing designs optimally through the final details.
Versatile. You do things like project management, designing in another discipline, testing and system integration, writing code, or analysis and simulation when needed.
Requirements
Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (Master’s preferred, related degrees considered with appropriate experience).
5+ years of experience designing electrical hardware and/or embedded systems (less could be acceptable for exceptional candidates).
Broad foundational knowledge across EE (high-speed digital, mixed-signal, analog, and power) with deep experience and understanding of at least one boundary-pushing project or product development.
PCB schematic and layout design (Altium or OrCad+Allegro preferred).
Board bring-up, testing, troubleshooting from system to component level.
Ability to prepare and release complete design packages (schematics, BOMs, PCB fab packages, analysis reports, etc.).
Firmware, software, scripting, or data analysis skills are a plus.
Experience in a regulated, documentation-heavy industry is a plus.
Willingness to travel occasionally (5–10%).
Hybrid includes working from home two days a week. All other days required to be onsite.
What We’d Love to See
Along with your resume, please share examples of your work—a portfolio, case studies, schematics, or project stories—that show how you think and solve problems.
