Overview
The Director, Scientific Communications & Publications will develop and execute scientific communications, and publication plans for the gene therapy portfolio products across all geographic regions. This role will lead the development and maintenance of scientific platforms and the strategic execution of aligned scientific communications and publication deliverables to ensure a global approach that accurately and consistently communicates about Insmed disease areas of interest and Insmed generated data for the gene therapy portfolio. This role will have high visibility within the medical organization and requires the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization. The Director will work closely with the cross-functional data generation team (Medical Strategy, Biometrics, Research, Clinical Development) and engage with healthcare professional experts and authors. The role will ensure compliance with publication-related policies and procedures. Title will be determined upon evaluation of credentials and experience.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities (Essential Role Responsibilities):
- In close partnership with Global Medical Strategy, lead the development and maintenance of Scientific Platforms, Lexicon, and the Insmed Medical Communications plan for the gene therapy portfolio
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, fair-balanced, scientifically/clinically accurate medical communications deliverables in accordance with established timelines, compliance guidelines/policies, and budgets
- Lead and facilitate comprehensive cross-functional global publication planning, including generation and execution of annual publication plans and presence at scientific congresses, with an understanding of how these activities support the overall business strategy, and including identification and prioritization of regional and local publication needs
- Execute publication plans including leading agency partners to ensure delivery of accurate and appropriate publications on time, within budget, and adhering to policy
- Develop and manage the global publication strategy while engaging key stakeholders (i.e., clinical development, authors etc.) to disseminate key scientific data/information through high-impact peer review journals, congresses, digital and other scientific platforms
- Master's degree in a scientific discipline, advanced degree preferred (PhD, PharmD or MD)
- Previous experience in Gene Therapy or Biologics required
- At the Director level, a minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, primarily in Medical Affairs publications function is required, with a proven track record of achieving results in a complex and dynamic setting
- Expert knowledge of relevant guidance including, but not limited to International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) guidelines, CME Open Payments reporting, Good Publication Practice (GPP)
- Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) credentialed highly preferred
- Minimum 5 years' experience demonstrated success in design and implementation of Scientific Publications Strategies including oversight to formal needs assessment and other relevant activities
- Demonstrated expertise in understanding and the application of scientific/clinical data to external dissemination to healthcare professionals, medical community and key stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and effectively communicate complex scientific and clinical data to internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within collaborative and cross-functional teams
- Must successfully exhibit Insmed's five (5) core corporate competencies of: Excellence, Accountability, Driven, Collaborative and Solutions; along with any other position specific competencies!

Salary Range
$179,000 - $250,800 a year
