Position Overview
Telos Group, Inc. is seeking a Contract Grant Writer to lead efforts to secure funding for our mission and programs. This contractor will research, write, and submit high-quality grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies. They will collaborate with Telos’ staff on an as-needed basis to align funding opportunities with organizational priorities and vision.
The ideal contractor is a skilled storyteller and strategic thinker who can translate complex ideas into compelling proposals. They are detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in identifying new funding opportunities and managing multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Research and identify prospective funding opportunities from private foundations, corporations, and public agencies.
Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and related materials.
Collaborate with staff to gather and synthesize data, stories, and program outcomes for proposals and reports.
Maintain an up-to-date grants calendar, tracking application deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables.
Prepare interim and final reports for funders, ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
Support Telos’ relationships with funders and philanthropic partners as needed.
Track and report on grant activity and success rates to inform fundraising strategy.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, social sciences, humanities, or related field preferred.
Experience:
2–4 years of experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising.
Proven track record of securing grant funding from foundations, corporations, and/or government agencies.
Experience working with mission-driven organizations is preferred.
Core Skills:
Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone for various audiences.
Strong research skills, including assessing funding alignment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; familiarity with grant management systems a plus.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with staff.
