Position Information

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Master's Degree in higher education, college student affairs, counseling, or related field preferred.
- Three (3) - Five (5) years of administrative and appropriate program experience (i.e. student conduct at an institution of higher education) preferred.
The Assistant Director for Student Conduct (University Housing) serves as the Office of Student Conduct's liaison to University Housing and is the main point of contact for all University Housing staff members. The Assistant Director is responsible for reviewing all reports of misconduct that are referred to the Office of Student Conduct and exercises independent judgment in determining appropriate case routing, coordinating closely with University Housing and University Police, as needed. The Assistant Director also provides guidance and oversight to the University Housing Community Guide processes and will work collaboratively with the Student Conduct Staff and University Housing staff on resolution of these cases. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director for Student Conduct.

- Understanding of student development concepts and the ability to utilize them in student conduct matters.
- Understanding of the role of student conduct at a large, complex institution.
- Knowledge of higher education conduct issues, policies, and due process.
- In-depth understanding of residence life philosophy and practices.
- Ability to make decisions independently.
- Possess computer knowledge and skills and be able to utilize word processing, email, internet, and calendar and database programs.
- Ability to manage detailed work and balance time demands well.
- Ability to work evenings and weekend hours.
- Sit at a desk and computer for moderate periods of time.
- Verbally communicate via telephone and in person.
- Remember circumstances and changes.

University Housing:
- Oversee the adjudication of all student conduct cases originating in University Housing, analyzing student misconduct in the residence halls and responding to behavior by fully utilizing the resources of the Office of Student Conduct, University Police, and University Housing.
- Manage and maintain a cooperative working partnership between the Office of Student Conduct and University Housing, serving as a liaison to University Housing and attending meetings with University Housing Residential Programs and Services staff, including one on one meetings and staff meetings.
- Serve as the point of contact for staff members in University Housing regarding the referral of student conduct matters, including advising staff about how to answer questions and support students and family members going through the University's conduct process.
- Communicate with the University Housing staff members regarding residence hall conduct and collaborate with Assistant Directors regarding the assignment of University Housing community guide cases.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Director for Student Conduct (Investigations) for all investigations of cases originating in University Housing.
- Plan and facilitate ongoing training programs for University Housing staff related to the adjudication of student conduct and community guide issues, with training covering such topics as initiating the conduct process, report writing, due process in case adjudication, responding to student crisis, investigation, and mediation.
- As needed, provide educational guidance, periodic reviews, and oversight for University Housing community guides and associated policies.
- Communicate with the University Housing staff members regarding residence hall conduct and collaborate with Assistant Directors regarding the assignment of University Housing community guide cases.
- Coordinate with the Investigator for Student Conduct for all investigations of cases originating in University Housing.
- Provide oversight for assessment initiatives for cases originating in University Housing.
- Remain abreast of Advocate system functions and updates and provide training on use and work flow changes of the database to all University Housing staff members.
- Assist the Director for Student Conduct in outreach/education regarding the student conduct process, including presentations at UGA student orientation sessions and in the residence halls.
General Administrative and Case Management:
- Receive and conduct prompt reviews of reports of alleged student misconduct and independently determine appropriate response and resolution to conduct matters, including no action, informal resolution or formal resolution and work with students toward appropriate resolution, up to and including separation from the University.
- Manage case assignments for Office of Student Conduct (OSC) staff.
- Complete administrative job functions in a timely, thorough and acceptable manner in accordance with established expectations.
- Participate in various Division and University committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
